Revolutionizing Food Delivery:
The Zomato’s AI Chatbot Design
Brief
Ever wondered how AI can transform your food experience? Join me on a journey through the design of an AI chatbot of Zomato that is going to be released soon and that’s set to redefine how we order and enjoy our meals, even if we're not sure about what to eat.
Problem Statement: The Food Dilemma
In today’s fast-paced world, deciding what to eat can be a daily struggle. Whether it’s post-hangover cravings or just the usual dinner dilemma, finding the right meal isn’t always easy. This challenge is going to be solved by a new AI in Zomato app for their Exclusive Golden Customers.
Personal Motivation On This Design: Simplifying Choices
Once I came to know that Zomato was going to be releasing this feature, I couldn’t just wait for them, so I took it as a challenge myself and tried designing how it might look in the app. In the upcoming sections, I’ll share my journey crafting this AI chatbot, designed to turn your culinary conundrums into delightful dining experiences.
Design Concept
Design Philosophy: Seamless and User-Centric
The design philosophy revolves around simplicity and user empowerment. I tried to design this chatbot to feel like a helpful friend. I have conducted a mini research on gathering moodboards and insights to design this feature.
Guessing an AI Chatbot’s Capabilities:
- Personalization: Tailored recommendations cater to individual tastes, ensuring greater satisfaction with food choices.
- Efficiency: Users can quickly decide what to eat, reducing the time spent browsing menus and contemplating options.
- Contextual Suggestions: The chatbot understands user context, responding with appropriate recommendations based on factors like the time of day, weather, or mood.
- Instant Ordering: Users can place orders directly through the chatbot, saving time and minimizing steps in the food delivery process.
- Reduced Decision Fatigue: The chatbot alleviates the burden of deciding, making meal choices more straightforward and enjoyable.
- Feedback-Driven Improvement: Continuous feedback loops mean the chatbot evolves and improves, delivering increasingly accurate and appealing suggestions.
Use Cases: A Day in the Life with AI
A few scenarios illustrate how users interact with the AI chatbot:
Naming Progress: A Creative Journey
Choosing the right name for an AI chatbot was a creative adventure. When I thought about giving a name to the chatbot, a name struck my mind immediately. But I want to explore more themes like culinary expertise and friendly assistance. So I asked a few of my designer friends, Zomato users, and our another great friend, “Chat GPT.” Practically speaking, who can’t use Chat GPT for content right?
Here are the suggestions from Chat GPT:
There is an old saying, “First Choice is the Best Choice.” After much brainstorming, I arrived at my first choice, “ZODDY” as it embodies the brand and the friendly nature.
The Visual Aspect
Color Palette: A feast for the eyes
Choosing the right color palette for the chatbot was a critical step in creating an engaging and visually appealing user experience. The color scheme revolves around three primary colors:
1. Appetizing Red: Zomato’s brand color
2. Premium Gold: Zomato’s gold membership’s color
3. Happy Yellow: To differentiate the user’s chat color from Zoddy’s chat color “Ash Grey” and also to balance the vibrancy of yellow, Ash Grey was used. It also creates a harmonious visual contrast.
Typography in Action:
The Inter enhances readability, ensuring that users can effortlessly navigate the chat and receive recommendations with ease.
